COVID-19 Study Services
Gnome Sciences boasts an expansive range of services designed to detect and analyze the SARS-CoV-2 virus. These services leverage our rich biorepository that contains hundreds of formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded blocks from autopsies of fatal COVID-19 cases, encompassing most major organs. Our repository also includes hundreds of slides from individuals with skin lesions associated with either SARS-CoV-2 or the vaccine, with comprehensive clinical information attached to each biopsy and autopsy.
Our team excels at detecting viral RNA and proteins in formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissues in situ, and outlining the concurrent host response using advanced co-localization experiments and software. This expertise is evidenced in the numerous peer-reviewed papers we have published.
We have also honed protocols to extract and analyze viral proteins via ELISA, dot blot hybridization, and Western blot analyses. In addition, our experience in qRT-PCR analysis of RNA extracted from formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissues, including variant detection, is second to none. Finally, our vast library of nasopharyngeal swabs, already analyzed for viral RNA, can be harnessed for additional solution phase work or in situ localization of the virus and host response.
Recognizing the variation of data on key biomarkers in COVID-19 cases across different laboratories, we strive for standardization. We have developed and published numerous papers on the detection of COVID-19 markers in human tissues. Our Reference Lab services offer standardized protocols to perform histopathology services on samples from diverse collections and studies, thus normalizing protein expression detection and ISH across specimens.
